Privacy Policy

This policy explains what FallGuard collects, how it is used, how it is shared, and the safety limitations that apply to possible fall review.

Important safety and privacy notice

FallGuard provides possible fall review and alert-routing software. It is not a medical device, emergency response system, professional monitoring service, or substitute for calling 911 or local emergency services. Do not rely on FallGuard as the only way to monitor safety.

Detection results, confidence scores, timestamps, and written reasons are automated estimates for review. They may be wrong, incomplete, delayed, or affected by camera angle, lighting, movement, occlusion, Ring settings, privacy zones, clip availability, internet service, and other conditions outside FallGuard's control.

Information we collect

  • Account information such as name, email address, role, login/session data, and support messages.
  • Legal acceptance records such as Terms/Privacy acceptance timestamps, accepted versions, IP address, and browser/user-agent information.
  • Subscription and billing metadata from Ring or manual admin support grants. FallGuard does not store full payment card numbers.
  • Ring integration data such as Ring account identifiers, device identifiers, motion webhook data, encrypted OAuth tokens, clip timestamps, and clip download results.
  • Video and review data such as Ring motion clips, admin-uploaded test clips, FallGuard review media, detection scores, event timestamps, alert status, and reviewer decisions.
  • Settings and alert contact data such as fall sensitivity, stillness duration, review-media storage preference, contact names, phone numbers, email addresses, and enabled alert channels.
  • Technical data such as IP-derived request metadata, logs, device/browser information, errors, security events, and service diagnostics.

How we use information

  • Provide, operate, test, secure, and improve FallGuard.
  • Link Ring accounts, receive signed Ring webhooks, download eligible Ring motion clips, and analyze clips for possible fall review.
  • Show evidence, detection results, review status, dashboard metrics, and plan-limited features.
  • Send optional alerts through enabled channels and configured contacts.
  • Process subscriptions, enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, debug errors, and provide customer support.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, and protect users, FallGuard, and third-party services.

AI, training, and video access

  • FallGuard uses automated, AI-assisted pose and motion analysis to review eligible Ring motion clips and uploaded test clips for possible fall indicators.
  • This analysis may estimate body position, movement, posture changes, stillness, confidence, event timing, and whether a clip should be labeled as a possible fall or saved for review.
  • Automated analysis is not always accurate and may be affected by camera angle, lighting, distance, furniture, clothing, occlusion, clip length, Ring settings, privacy zones, internet availability, and other conditions outside FallGuard's control.
  • FallGuard does not use Ring video clips, video frames, motion events, device metadata, detection outputs, or customer alert decisions to train AI or machine learning models.
  • FallGuard does not use Ring data for targeted advertising, facial recognition, biometric identification, identity verification, medical diagnosis, treatment, disease prevention, or emergency dispatch.
  • FallGuard does not create faceprints, voiceprints, fingerprints, iris scans, or biometric identifiers for identifying a person.
  • Material changes to AI capabilities, detection behavior, data use, or accuracy-related disclosures are communicated through in-app notices, support documentation, updated Terms, or updated Privacy Policy notices as appropriate.

Medical, FDA, and HIPAA status

  • FallGuard has not been reviewed, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
  • FallGuard is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease, medical condition, injury, or disability.
  • FallGuard does not provide medical advice, clinical decisions, patient monitoring, professional caregiving, or emergency response.
  • FallGuard is not a HIPAA covered entity or HIPAA business associate unless a separate written agreement expressly says otherwise.
  • Do not enter protected health information, medical records, diagnosis details, treatment information, insurance information, or unnecessary health information into FallGuard support messages or account fields.

Human access to customer video

  • FallGuard staff do not routinely view customer Ring video clips, video frames, or FallGuard review media.
  • Review playback is intended for the signed-in customer and users they authorize within their own account.
  • Company support is designed to troubleshoot from account settings, service logs, event metadata, and customer-described issues. FallGuard does not access customer-stored Ring video for routine support.
  • Authorized administrators may use internal Support View to inspect limited account metadata, settings, subscription status, Ring connection status, service logs, and alert metadata for troubleshooting. Support View does not show customer video, images, or FallGuard review media.
  • Users should not send unnecessary video to support. If a user voluntarily provides media outside the app, it is treated as a support message and used only to respond to that request.

Ring privacy zones and camera controls

  • Privacy zones, motion zones, camera placement, recording controls, and camera availability are managed in the Ring app and Ring account settings.
  • FallGuard analyzes the motion clips and event data Ring provides after those Ring-side controls are applied.
  • When Ring provides privacy zone configuration data to FallGuard, FallGuard masks those privacy-zone polygons before pose analysis and before generating FallGuard review previews.
  • FallGuard does not attempt to undo, reconstruct, or infer content from areas masked by Ring privacy zones.
  • Users should configure Ring camera and privacy settings before enabling FallGuard processing for household, visitor, caregiver, resident, or workplace needs.

Data sharing with third parties and sub-processors

We do not sell personal information, video clips, detection results, or fall review data. We do not use video clips or detection results for targeted advertising.

  • Service providers and sub-processors: hosting, database, storage, security, email, SMS, analytics, diagnostics, or infrastructure providers, if enabled, only as needed to operate FallGuard.
  • Ring/Amazon services: to link accounts, validate subscriptions, receive webhooks, and download eligible clips.
  • Twilio or email providers: only when optional SMS or email alerts are enabled. SMS and email providers do not receive Ring video clips, video frames, or FallGuard review media. They may process limited alert delivery information such as recipient phone/email, alert message content, event time, and camera name if included in the alert.
  • Legal and safety: if required by law, legal process, security investigation, fraud prevention, or to protect rights and safety.
  • FallGuard does not authorize third parties or sub-processors to use Ring data for their own advertising, resale, profiling, or AI model training.

SMS messaging privacy

  • FallGuard collects the account owner's mobile phone number, SMS alert preference, and SMS consent record only when the account owner chooses to enable SMS alerts.
  • FallGuard uses mobile information to send user-requested transactional SMS alerts about high-confidence possible fall events, opt-in confirmations, HELP responses, STOP/opt-out processing, and related service messages.
  • No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
  • SMS opt-in data and messaging consent are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing, advertising, lead generation, or promotional purposes.
  • SMS delivery providers and mobile carriers may process limited mobile information only as needed to deliver user-requested SMS messages, process HELP/STOP requests, maintain delivery records, prevent abuse, and comply with telecom requirements.
  • Message frequency varies based on account settings, connected cameras, high-confidence possible fall events, and SMS limits. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Users can opt out of SMS alerts at any time by replying STOP, replying HELP for help, disabling SMS alerts from Account Security, deleting their account phone number, or contacting support.

Security safeguards

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including backend-only Ring token storage, token encryption, access controls, and HTTPS in production. No system is 100% secure.

FallGuard cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, service interruption, data loss, delayed deletion, failed delivery, or security incidents will never occur.

Data retention periods

  • No-fall review media is kept for up to 24 hours when review-media storage is enabled.
  • Possible-fall review media is retained according to the active plan history window unless the user deletes it sooner.
  • If review-media storage is turned off, FallGuard saves the detection result and deletes clip/pose media after processing.
  • Account, event, settings, billing, and security information is kept as long as needed to provide FallGuard, meet legal or billing obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and support audit/debug needs.
  • Users may delete alerts in the app and may delete their account from Account Security, subject to limited legal, security, billing, or compliance retention requirements.

Fall review data and breach notices

FallGuard processes possible fall review information from motion clips. It does not identify medical conditions, diagnose health status, provide medical advice, or create a doctor, hospital, insurer, or HIPAA covered-entity relationship. If a privacy, security, or breach notification duty applies, FallGuard will provide required notices according to applicable law.

Children and household consent

FallGuard is not directed to children under 13. Users are responsible for having appropriate rights, consents, notices, and permissions for any camera location, household member, caregiver, resident, employee, visitor, or other person whose image, movement, or contact information may be processed.
